We require just that much food, which will provide our body with sufficient fuel. But in reality we tend to consume 100 to 1000 calories more than what we need, each day. An extra munch of chips here or an extra helping of dessert there, all add up to an extra pound of weight. And being overweight immediately starts harming various aspects of one’s health.
Very few people in this world actually know their daily requirement of calories. But we can all find that out by a simple multiplication of the number of pounds we weigh, by any figure, in between 28 to 33. If you need to engage in tedious physical activities throughout the day, you can multiply your weight by 32 or 33. If you feel that, your daylong physical activities are not much, you can multiply your weight by 28 or 29.
Men generally need 2550 calories a day and women normally about 2000 calories a day, for a healthy life ahead. That means a breakfast of 300 to 400 calories, a lunch of 500 to 600 calories, a couple of snacks of 100 to 200 calories each and a dinner of 600 to 700 calories.
But counting calories while eating often leads to poor nourishment. A more intelligent way of handling matters is to change the nature of your daily diet. If you make fruits and vegetables the central components of your diet, you will never end up consuming too many calories. Diet rich in vegetables and fruits will always give you a good supply of minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, many other nutrients and fiber all essential for a healthy body.
What is most important is that every adult should be aware of the amount of food required by his or her body to maintain health, weight and energy at the perfect level.
